Monmouth NJ Crash Leaves Five Dead

The horrific crash of a twin-engine Cessna just yards away from where children were sledding left five people dead. The crash killed two men from New Jersey and three visitors from Poland.
The Wall Township Police Department identified the three from Poland as Andrzej Zajaczkowski, 38; his 14-year-old son, Patryk; and his 6-year-old-nephew, Filip Zajaczkowski.
The owner of the plane was Jacek Mazurek, 45, of Kearny, a friend of the Zajaczkowski family. The pilot was Wojciech G. Nykaza, 46, of Lodi, a friend of the owner.

The accident happened on Monday minutes after the aircraft ttok off from Monmouth Executive Airport for what was presumably a sightseeing trip. Witnesses reported seeing the plane flying low and fast, but without the landing gear down as it approached the runway. Then, according to witnesses, it looked as if a part of the aircraft fell ground as the plane pulled up.

The airplane was registered to Jack Air in Wilmington, Del., but was kept at the Monmouth airport.
